Websites usually use three different navigation structures; linear, hierarchical and matrix. Linear navigation structure flows forwards and backwards by linked web pages. This structure is only suitable for basic websites.
The drawback for this structure is users may find this to be difficult to navigate through linked web pages considering you can only access the next linked web page.
Hierarchical navigation is structured with each web pages linked with a number of different pages. The content of the website is usually structured with the lowest in the hierarchy containing all the content provided in the website; as the hierarchy gets higher, the content is more refined by the user is trying to locate. Matrix navigation is structured with all the web pages are linked with each other. There is no dedicated homepages as most websites contains. Although the navigation is structured insufficiently, each web page provides simple and easy bidirectional links.
Pseudocode is detailed and a readable description of what a computer program or algorithm does. Pseudocode is presented formally using natural language rather than programming language. Pseudocode allows designers or lead programmers to express the design in great detail and provide programmers a detailed template for the next step of writing code in a specific programming language.
I have not used Pseudocode in my website code because there is no complex algorithm or other codes that I need to explain. You usually use animation to improve the appeal of the website, but most of the time it is not needed.
Animations are usually in the. When implementing my fonts, I used the Google Web Fonts which gave me the ability to see how the font would look on my webpage by simply copying a piece of coding from both the HTML and CSS of the font and then inputting it into my website. This was very easy as I could also change the sizes of the font that was selected. To be able to get a better range of the different types of fonts that were available, I also used the Adobe Edge Web Fonts which is very similar to the other font selection tool.
However, the Adobe Edge Web Fonts was much easier than the other software as I was able to easily drag and drop the font into my coding without any difficulties. Wireframe is very good for helping me plan the creation of my website; there are several different tools and techniques that can be used on this particular software.
This software basically allowed me to create each webpage that was going to be in my website which provided me with a better understanding of how the entire website was going to look like. The wireframe software had different templates that I could select from, which allowed the use of the software to be very easy. The tools that were on Wireframe were very straightforward which also allowed me to understand the processes of a website. Templates Templates are the first page you make if you are making a website with many pages.
The template is the base page that has no content on it but has the menu bar, banner and the navigation bar. This means the template can be used to start each page without having to place the basics. This is useful when making a large website because it saves time and keeps the house style all the way through out. This is helpful is because when you have to manage pages its make it a lot easier to change and add page in short amounts of time.
Rollovers Rollovers are buttons on a website that change when your cursor moves over it. Rollovers make the website look better and make it easier for the user to use the menu bar. This is because the button can changes colour to make the website more exciting. The rollover shows the user that it is a button and that it is hyperlinked.
Creating the hierarchy chart enabled me to map out the design of the website. The benefit of using this software for this purpose is that the process of creating the sitemap was easy and straight forward.
Figure 1 — Sitemap. As shown in figure one the layout is very simple and straight forward. The software has equipped me with the boxes and the links which show how the website is going to work and flow together.
Also the boxes are labelled. The labelled boxes are beneficial because it enabled me to know which page is going to be which when I begin to implement the actual website.
The reason for the use of this colour palette tool was to create the colours which were going to be used on my website. I chose to use the Adobe Kuler tool.
Adobe Kuler is a tool which enabled me to drag the colours together in order to generate a certain colour. I decided to use this tool due to the fact that it was easy to generate the colour I would like. However, the main reason for the use of this tool is that it provided me with the colour code which I was going to use during the coding process of my website.
Figure 2 - Adobe Kuler. Figure 2 is an example of the website that I used to generate the colours that I am going to use on my website. As you can see that the layout is very basic and straight forward.
