The Veterans Program initially focused on meeting the emergency needs of entitled and eligible veterans and their families. Since November , the Veterans and Human Services Levy has provided funding to supplement existing services. The first Veterans and Human Services Levy was passed by the voters of King County in November to generate funding to help veterans, military personnel and their families, and other individuals and families in need across the county through a variety of housing and supportive services.
The levy investment in veterans seeks to break the cycle of homelessness by expanding the countywide capacity to reach, engage, and house the most compromised homeless individuals throughout King County. This has led the Veterans' Program to focus more on case management and personal engagement with trained social workers. When appropriate, financial supportive services are used as tools to help stabilize the lives of veterans and their family members.
The purpose of such support is to assist veterans in need and their families in attaining long-term self sufficiency. When you visit one of our offices, you'll complete a King County Veterans Program application for services.
